Robert L. Becker

Robert L. Becker (semi-retired) is an experienced litigator specializing in Labor and Employment, Contracts and Administrative Law. Bob was also active in a mediation program in the federal court in the Southern District of New York and has trained lawyers in mediation skills and techniques. Bob's commitment to protecting his clients never wavered. Before becoming a partner of Raff & Becker, LLP, Bob was the Managing Attorney of a federally funded legal service office for six years, and for more than five years he served as Associate Counsel of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc., representing plaintiffs in complex public interest and civil rights litigation. Robert L. Becker served as Chairman of the Civil Rights Committee of the New York State Bar Association from 1985 to 1988. He also served as Co-Chair of the Committee on Pro Bono and Public Interest for the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, from 2006 to 2008.  As a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the National Employment Lawyers' Association, Bob has been a wise resource to many.

Since his semi-retirement from Raff & Becker, LLP, Bob has been utilizing the experience gained in his long and successful career to advise unrepresented litigants in Family Court. Bob's client centered work during his partnership at Raff & Becker, LLP, speaks to the type of attorneys working there. Bob has left behind a legacy of comprehensive knowledge and passion for advocacy, and it is one that has been upheld by the attorneys at Raff & Becker, LLP.

Bob is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colgate University and received his law degree from Columbia University School of Law.
